One to One Counselling
(In Ipswich or Online)

I am a qualified counsellor based in Ipswich offering in person and online sessions for a range of mental health challenges including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and major life changes. I strive to provide a compassionate, confidential and non-judgmental space where we can explore your feelings to help you to find a clearer direction that feels right for you. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I believe that it can be very helpful for people to speak with a number of counsellors before committing to a therapist. I’m therefore very happy to have a free video / phone call with you so that you can be sure to choose someone who feels right for you.
More About Me
I studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy in Lancaster after feeling the benefit of my own personal therapy which amongst other things helped me to live more in the moment, becoming more self aware, accepting of things and grounded.
As a therapist, it is not my role or place to judge, analyse or even instruct you with my advice, but rather to provide a safe space for you feel heard, accepted, to gain clarity and insight into your own experiences and allow us to uncover collaboratively how you might move forwards.
I was a telephone operator for an NHS Mental Health and Wellbeing Helpline in Lancashire as a volunteer, I have worked with clients from a range of backgrounds at Cedar House (counselling charity) in Preston as well as at Inspire – CGL’s Integrated Recovery Service in Lancashire.
I have been a professional musician for the last 2 decades and have learned the value of really listening – with focus, awareness, and openness to what might be beneath the surface. I bring this same attentiveness to my work with clients, whether you’re a musician or not. I have also been fortunate enough to have worked across the country as well as visiting a number of countries around the world. I feel that these experiences have provided an invaluable window into a wide range of people and cultures.

FAQs
How long is a counselling session?
Sessions last around 50 minutes. This gives us time to explore concerns in depth while keeping the session focused.
How often do people have counselling?
Typically people will have weekly sessions. Very occasionally a more or less frequent schedule may be agreed.
Can I have a mixture of online and in-person sessions?
Yes, absolutely!
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions will depend on your needs. Some people find 6–12 helpful, while others prefer more longer-term support. In Person-Centred Therapy, you lead the process, and we’ll review progress together. There’s no pressure to commit to a set number in advance though; we can adjust as we go.
What is Person-Centred Therapy?
Person-Centred Therapy is a non-directive approach where I don’t assume I know what’s best for you—instead, I treat you as a unique individual and create a space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings freely, with non-judgmental support and gentle curiosity. To support this, I may also draw on ideas from Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (parts work), Polyvagal Theory, the Window of Tolerance, and trauma-informed practices. As a musician, I can also offer listening to music as a grounding technique to begin or end sessions. This blend allows us to work in a way that’s both client-led and grounded in well-established therapeutic theory.
